Biography

Dmytro Volodymyrovych Spodynyuk, going by Dimi for the ""mouthful he knows he is"", is not your average woofer canine. Good at Ukranian and Russian, but a ""spy villain"" when he switches to English, the wolfdog is a sight to behold. He jokes that the reason he has a good foot above his already tall parents was due to some of his family being of the ones who got out of Pripyat in time when the nuclear reactors went awry. Dimi constantly clarifies it's his crazy uncle and that he wasn't even in that close of a vicinity, but likes the attention that the ""nuclear puppy"" image gave him.

Growing up was not always roses, but it wasn't quite the fallouts. The pup of engineers that were tossed around as the Soviet Union started splitting and Ukraine started to become its own thing, Dimi was on the verge of being too busy for his own good, splitting time between school and helping his folks if the situation hit ""fallout"" phase, which was every once in a while. They knew their not-so-small puppy was spread thin, not even making a big fuzz when he had to repeat a year in school.

But as his interest in academics wore thin, the athletic aspect was a grower. Basketball was the natural option, as the sheer sight of Dimi posed a threat to those who even thought of playing a scrimmage against him. His form was raw, but the talent was very much there, and the leniency in academics was soon a non-issue when they learned that athletic prodigies kind of just happen to ace their exams in favor of getting fresh meat for a newer country. But once the high school face was over, a new challenge was to be had.

The wolfdog was torn between abandoning what he had in favor of moving away to a new country or just trying to cement his talents elsewhere, where a big risk meant big reward. Finally, after much pushing by advisers, Dimi packed his bags and went to America, trying to make a name for himself in the basketball world.

Unfortunately... it seemed it wasn't meant to be. The trainers were much less forgiving of grades and slacking, even if his talent and good sportsmanship were there, it meant he had to be dumped pretty soon after, and as the pressure mounted to him, he drooped out of college entirely. His student visa ticking, Dimi was desperate to keep doing the thing he was good at and he knew would make a killing at if given the chance. And when he saw the D-League offered compensation, stay and a chance to show his skills without the ""useless hurdle"" of university, the wolfdog took the plunge.
