Biography
Lukas Aukstakalnis has been described as "more athletic than your average bigfur", "having a flair for the dramatic", "a raw but promising talent".
But if you call him a "rhino", all you will get in return is confusion and indignation.
Lukas was born on July 30, 1998, to parents Dominykas and Regina Aukstakalnis. It was a particularly emotional day for Dominykas. Mere hours before he welcomed his son into the world, he had lead Lithuania's National Basketball Team to a shocking upset of the United States in the group stage of the 1998 IFBA World Championship.
Despite being born paler than the average white rhino, Lukas seemed to be a normal, healthy calf for the first few years of his life. However, as a toddler, when he saw unicorns depicted in the fairy tales his mother would read to him, he would point at them and remark that the creature looked just like him. No matter how much his parents would try to calmly explain to him that he was a rhinoceros, and not a unicorn, their son could not and would not be convinced otherwise.
As Lukas grew older and taller, and his father spent more time teaching the game of basketball to his son, it became apparent that the young "unicorn" was quite good at the game Lithuanian hoops fans refer to as "the Second Religion".
In 2016, upon graduating from Vilniaus Gyvunas Universitetas, he signed with the local pro club, BC Vilniaus. At both the University level and in the LGKL (Lietuvos Gyvunas Krepsinio Lyga, the Lithuanian Animal Basketball League in English), he has been noted for his flashy style of play. He is unafraid to shoot threes, try fancy moves around the basket, or attempt tricky passes to open teammates on the perimeter. With FBA scouts salivating at the potential of this athletic bigfur with a modern play style, he has declared for the upcoming FBA Draft.
