Biography

Zoie Wilds, an African Hunting Dog, was born and raised on the breathtaking beaches of Venice Beach, California. She started her athletic life out as a gymnast, spending her elementary through junior high school years dedicated to the sport.

However, her puberty growth spurt left her a tad tall for the professorial gymnastic circuit. Zoie also had the misfortune of not having the proper guidance through the public school system. When she told her parents she wanted to pursue it professionally, they did not know that she was three years to late to sign up.

Heartbroken over the fact she could not chase her dreams as a gymnast, Zoie regrouped when she entered high school, enrolling in track and field. Her track coach saw that she was a dedicated athlete and had the height possibly play basketball. He could also sense the melancholy and heartbreak Zoie felt because she was denied something she loved. The coach recommended her for the basketball team tryouts that fall.

Happily, Wilds found a new passion in basketball with the teamwork involved; she had previously not had and excitement of the game. She graduated from high school with scholarship offers from all across the country. She chose UFLA because of how close it was to her home, allowing her the familiarity of being on her own turf and available to her parents if they should need her.

The last four years have been spectacular for Zoie's game and for her life. Taking an interest in medical science as her minor, she grew and excelled at basketball. Zoie worked to impress all she could with her versatility and agility on and off the court.

Wilds is frequently seen boarding across campus with one of many of her skateboards. Friendly, easygoing and competitive, she is eager to being all she has to her next challenge.

One of her favorite expressions is "Ago vita ut suus plenus", which means "live life to its fullest". Her Jamaican accent always made the expression memorable for everyone.

2013 Free Agency

After completing her rookie contract, Zoie was offered a maximum contract by the Bangor Tides of 7 years / $175 million. She chose instead to accept a much smaller contract offer made by the Winnipeg Voyageurs.
