Biography
Darcy was born in Stittsville, ON to a pair of very young parents. The two armadillos were seniors on rival high school basketball teams in Ottawa when Darcy was born. This led to him being largely raised by various grandparents, aunts, and uncles while his parents finished their schooling. His closeness with his extended family meant that he always had loving and caring adults around, but he never spent much time around children his own age. When the armadillo went to school, he was so nervous around the other kids that he developed a habit of curling into a ball at the slightest provocation.
By the time he reached the third grade, his social anxiety around kids his own age was beginning to concern his teachers and family. After a number of meetings with the school, his parents decided to step in directly. His mother and father began teaching him how to play basketball over the summer that he turned nine. This was the first time the two had taken a particularly active role in their son's development, so the armadillo took to it with gusto.
Come the fall, despite Darcy not being particularly good yet, they insisted that he join a local youth league. For the first few practices and games, he fell back on his old habit of rolling into a ball. Over the year, though, he developed confidence and skill, and even found friendship with some teammates.
Darcy kept playing basketball all through high school, with his parents coaching him. He came into his own with the sport, and was soon the captain of his school's team. When he moved out to go to university, on a sports scholarship from UEO, he booked out a few full day sessions with tattoo artists over the summer. The result was a gorgeous tattoo of a basketball across his shell, which he wears with gusto and a grin on the court.
