2018 FBA Season/18.03.06/BLV@SEA/Capsule
"Shock upset puts Bengtzing at 2, Turner at 0"
"Ja, it's no secret that, putting it generously, I don't like this (censored) team..." the large marbled polecat laughs charismatically with the reporter, while untying his signature blonde mane. "Regardless, we went through it our style..."
It wasn't going to be easy. Even if the Summit were missing DeMarcus for the time being, the home team made a statement, with a quick succession of shots by Turner and DQ, cementing a 21 point lead over the visiting Voodoo, aiming to flip the outcome they faced on their first encounter in Mississippi. At that point, the Voodoo had 6 more fouls in total than the home team, fact they definitely took notice.
"It was (censored) ridiculous. Lee (Evans) didn't touch anyone, I was on the line, while the starters were grinding on us like nothing. (censored) stupid..." The polecat scoffed. "But you know how it is, we in the Voodoo are hustlers and whatever cards we are dealt, we aim for gold. Lee regrouped us and set the plan."
The statement was replied as the first half closed, with Evans and Bengtzing managing to trip Turner enough to rack on the free throws as well as the polecat sealing the rock from his 8' opponent more than once. The Voodoo showed no signs of stopping, as the tables turned scorewise as each quarter ended. And the 21 point lead became a mere two point lead in the last stretch of the game. Biloxi set sights on jumping the hurdle after all the work in shrinking the gap. As the away opponents set up the play, the challenges went up a notch: A hard encounter with the Seattle bigfurs set starting rookie Kaspar Kuusik out. Bengtzing was not having it.
"Dunno if I did? Did I hit him?" the polecat asked back with a cheeky smile when asked if he attempted to harm and play rough with Turner on purpose before waving it off. "Not important, but the thing is... know that if you (censored) with my squad, you (censored) with me. And with me having five fouls they gave me for just breathing, might as well force it up and bring justice for my teammates and give at least a legit reason to foul me if it means they don't score."
With the polecat throwing his body to the fox and sending them both down to the ground, Sterling was fouled out of the game, shooting a nod at Craig as he subbed the mustelid. in a minute, the Seattle Summit held to a one point lead. An attempt to capitalize it on the last minute went wrong, which meant the Voodoo owned the last call. Kim on the line, Seattle 124, Voodoo 123.
"We had literally half of a damn second... Kim threw it at me, I shot it and... I need that reel, I want that damn reel overplayin all around the country!" Craig Reinhardt clapped back.
It was over, the Voodoo overcame the hurdle and aced the Seattle Summit for the season at 125-124.
"They win the exhibitions, we win the real thing." A sentiment echoed by several in the Southern team as they celebrated their victory.
"Yeah, it sucks to have to miss time. I'll be fine though, I'll do everything I can to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, it was amazing to see the rest of the team fight and win tonight, and I hope we can carry this forward into the rest of the season." Kuusik (in a neckbrace) replied when approached after the game.
Turner was coy to respond to questions when pressed after the game on the matter but offered the following: “Refs made a good call. He thinks he can get away with it because I’m a lot bigger than him but this is basketball, not a bloody mosh pit.”
When asked if the league should enforce further disciplinary actions on the polecat, Turner took the high ground and stated “I’m sure the league office will do the right thing for the good of the game.”
"Whoever that said our bigfur lineup was weak compared to the Summit needs to watch this game again." Kim commented, cawing. When asked if he shared the same sentiments his friends talked about, the avian was a little more coy. "The refs always go in favor of the popular teams... no big deal, we'll just win with what we've got." the avian winked.
In a duel of Silver-placed teams, you can still find gold.
