- Spirits gets payback as they beat Lorain in 1st game since “ the slap “, war not over -

It was a day that many FBA fans marked on their calendars, and to make it even more crazy, it had to have happened on a friday the 13th. Superstitious or not, Ever since that heated incident back in preseason between both coaches of their respective teams, the fandom of both Baltimore and Lorain has stepped it up a notch to rally around their team and point fingers to the other. What has been a tough rivalry for the past 3 years now seemed to have turned into a full on blood feud as finally Lorain would face off against Baltimore in their first game of the season.

Before the game, the authorities of the FBA made a visit to both locker rooms in order to give both teams a fair warning that any other brawls or actions like what happened in Ireland would not be tolerated. Security was on high alert between both benches, as you could sense the palpable tension in the air, as everyone in Amaultson arena looked at any glances or side eyes, trying to figure out if anyone would be able to keep themselves in check. As the game finally started, both teams were playing tough, not giving any space to one another, surprisingly enough, both teams would remain highly disciplined throughout the game, as only Tia Terra would be the only “ejection” of the game, fouling out in the fourth quarter. In a game where the only the minute mistake would be costly, it would happen that while she was good in dishing the passes this game, Lorain’s teresa Coyotl, who arguably had been having a great MVP worthy season, had troubled scoring today, only getting 9 points, on a 4/13 shooting split, only 1/7 for three pointers. In the meantime, her opposition’s Dennis Summers, earned POTG honors (23 points) as a lackluster 3rd quarter was all the Spirits needed to gain a 111-105 win over the Firestorm, getting some measure of revenge.

Spirits would thus strike first in the season matchup, but if the post game conference after the game was any indication, the war was far from over. A rather irate Teresa Coyotl had rather harsh words to say, and Baltimore Spirits coach Henriette Tetreault would bite back. Thankfully before another fight would happen, Saphira Kelley would diffuse the situation with her typical wit and humor…We in for an interesting season folks.
