Biography

Once upon a time, somebody ran...ran away saying fast as I can. Least, Beth thinks so...honestly that night is a big blur to her. A lot of life's been a blur in her mind.

Early Life

From what she can tell you, she grew up being a bit misunderstood and almost as if she wasn't the right fit for the little town she was born in. The funny looks, the glares...even among the few friends in her youth she worried if it was out of pity. Add in a few familial clashes and Beth even in her teenage years found herself more on the road than at home. Much to the dismay of her little brother Hunter.

Even through her worst times, Beth always did love and care for Hunter. He never quite got her but at the same time never judged her. Whether it was because the innocence of youth or because he looked up to her it was just good to have someone who thought good of her. She always put the words in his head ""Never apologise for being who you are.""

Even with the age difference, Beth and Hunter bonded a lot over the general liking of sports. The pair always pushing one another to be better and better, from running a little faster everyday to jumping a little higher than last time. Hunter even found the love of a rather intriguing sport, one rather off the beaten path. As Beth grew her abilities in basketball, Hunter grew into australian football. In a way, to Beth there was a satisfaction in that...seeing her brother grow into his own person. Telling her that even on his own he'd be alright...

Life on the Road

As she approached her college years, Beth would be on the road even more. To the point where being in her hometown once a year was a lot. Living off of odd jobs and learning more from what books she could get cheap when libraries where clearing out their shelves. Getting lost in her books and self-studies, it made her forget about a lot of her troubles...even the ones back home, wondering if maybe they'd forgotten her. Was that maybe for the better? She didn't wanna think about it at the time.

For now, she had an opportunity up north. Much as her bad academic record made colleges turn their noses up, Sasketchewan wa swilling to take the gamble on her. Sure, in Beth's mind she knew it was a bit of a case of 'We can fix her' but hard to say no to a chance at something new when life seemed so aimless at the time.

Hitting the Books and the Court

Certainly was an adjustment being in one of Canada's colder and more remote areas in general but Beth learned it's all about what you do with the chances you're given. It took some time to work through the remedial courses but through it all, Beth felt a better sense of belonging. From being in the classroom to being part of a team as a walk-on in one of CFIS' powerhouse schools.

As her collegiate tenure rolled on, her grades improved and Beth even felt moved to do more. As her remedial courses wrapped up she'd focus a bit on the medical field, through the college would get trained and certified as an emergency medical technician. Beth learned a lot about giving back, through helping others at some of their lowest points and hours of need.

Through her years playing for Sasketchewan, Beth saw a lot of success and heartbreak on the basketball team. They were always in the CFIS tournament and putting up strong showings but never able to fully seal the deal and take the trophy. It got frustrating, no matter how much Beth and the others on the team improved or added to their game there was always a wrench in the works. That process however, was a big part of her learning to succeed. In her final year of college ball she'd finally be a CFIS champ as Sasketchewan after the years of tripping at the finish line they'd finally done it! It was a testament to how failure is the backroad to success.

The Reason to Play

Soon enough, as her time in Sasketchewan drew to a close Beth had gotten a little reminder of home...even if by pure happenstance she'd heard that her little brother Hunter had made it into the FAFL! To hear that brought her a sense of pride. Made her wonder as well if maybe, just maybe she'd have a chance at making it pro.

It also gave her another reminder. A reminder of the family and life she had...in a way, she missed it. Not only did she want to see Hunter again, make up for the lost time but she also held out the hope that maybe by going pro it could be the catalyst for her parents to reunite and maybe reconcile with her.
