Biography
Growing up in the small incorporated town of Shelby, Indiana, Rhys knew he needed to get out at a young age. The oldest of three siblings, there was very little for the energetic ‘Tulli’ to keep him occupied. Shelby was so small that Rhys and his siblings would need to go to school in nearby Lowell. With both parents working he’d sometimes take his siblings swimming in the Kankakee River or on unauthorized boat rides. It was after once such excursion that Rhys’ parents decided they need to get their active child into a sport of some sort to keep him out of trouble. It was on a trip to Indianapolis that Rhys’ parents took him and his siblings to several different sporting events. But the one that caught the young Tulli’s interest the most was basketball.
Starting off on a team in high school, Rhys was certainly the odd kid out, but he was determined to do well, and brushed off the odd stares he’d sometimes get from folks unfamiliar with his species. Eventually Rhys would go on to get tattoos and piercings, to further stand out and express himself.
Rhys’ coach quickly picked up on that Rhys’ stalked eyes provided him with a very large field of vision, allowing the Tulli to have outstanding awareness on the basketball court. After graduating high school and moving to Elko Nevada to attend Ruby Valley, his coach worked with Rhys to train him to be an aggressive defender, or be an offensive monster when the situation called for it.
He's a player who regularly makes the most of what he has, and isn’t afraid to push head-on into the fray in order to try and recover the ball or go for a rebound. With Rhys’ training to be an athletic, multi-positional forward, his coach helped convince Rhys that going for the FBA was his next best move. So the monster made the jump, and Rhys went to enter the FBA draft.
