Biography

Even before Rory was born, his parents were mortified to find that their second child was going to be tauric. With an avian lower body with an extra set of wings, Rory’s parents were vaguely resentful that their new child was born different; not wanting to be viewed as having a ‘special needs’ child. It just would not do for the senior Lassetter’s social status. Despite Rory’s parents poor attitude, the rest of the family greatly enjoyed and loved caring for the stork-taur, his brother Kai, grandparents and uncle especially. While this attitude persisted though Rory’s childhood, and his parents left no doubt they valued the older child over the younger stork, Kai didn’t share their resentment and would spend lots of time with his little brother. It was Kai that introduced Rory to Basketball, and the storktaur picked it up enthusiastically. While in school this sport became a welcomed escape for Rory, and his brother would frequently be the one taking Rory to practices and games after school.

One night after picking Rory up from one such game that a vehicle struck Kai’s car, injuring his leg. Rory’s parents were quick to blame him for his brother’s injury as in their eyes Rory was the reason his brother needed to go out and pick him up, but Kai’s vehicle was hit by someone drunk driver running red light. Everyone else knew Rory was not responsible, and even the police investigating the accident were shocked by his parent’s behavior and twisted logic.

The antagonistic attitude from his parents finally caused Rory to break away from them as soon he was able. Unhappy with Rory’s parent’s behavior, the birdtaur’s uncle Marcus offered to let Rory stay with him in the US. Since Rory was planning to go to college, the stork saw this as an opportunity for a fresh start. Equally fed up with his parent’s toxic attitude and behavior, Kai left with Rory. This sparked off a fierce custodial fight between the parents, Rory’s uncle Marcus and Kai. However there was nothing the parents could do, Kai was over 18, and the Judge let Uncle Marcus be Kai’s and Rory’s legal guardian.

Now in Maryland, Rory enrolled in Baltimore Bay, and wanted to join with the basketball team. However there were those that were hesitant to take a player with more than the league standard amount of limbs, and possibly be in violation of the 5-limb rule. To take care of this, Rory, the school’s athletic director and his coach devised a set of ‘wing pins’ to help ensure his wings wouldn’t be used during games. With this wing restraint in place, the athletic director ensured the coach and Rory there would be no issues with being allowed to play. From then on Rory pushed himself towards improving his skills and furthering his career in basketball. The big stork frequently would use his large size and tall stature to his advantage of playing center. And while Baltimore bay didn’t go far in the college tournament, Rory still decided to try his luck with the FBA Draft
