Biography

It’s a mystery as to how Woody (as he is known) got so enormous. His parents are on the short and (by beaver standards) skinny side.

What is known is he grew up in a rural backwoods town where basketball wasn’t necessarily a Thing. His parents worked in the regional paper mill (the area’s chief employer).

That would definitely have been the case had Woody not stumbled on an old FBA video tape in a secondhand shop not long after his first real growth spurt.

"It was like the devil taking my soul through the TV", says Woody. "And after that things got fun. Cause I spent the next few weeks finding a ball and something that could work as a basket."

It wasn’t long before he began looking for practical ways to make his newfound dream a reality. And that was in between trips to nearby Kamiah or even (gasp) Lewiston in search of people to play with. Fortunately high school basketball provided an outlet. As well as following college ball intensely since age 15.

That was the year Atwood swept the FCAA (2013). The fact that the college catered to kids from tough backgrounds appealed to him. Plus the players whose names kept coming up in the reports seemed relatable, and something he could realistically strive for.
