Biography

Nickoli Louis Storn Jackson (or just Nick for short) grew up in Bar Harbor at the time with his stay at home mother Celine and ex EFBL player Donovan Jackson.

Growing up, Nick lived comfortably as his father had saved up the money he earned from when he played in Europe. As a young hatchling, he was always inspired by his father. He wanted to be just like him and started watching FBA games and practicing on his own on the family’s outside court. Unfortunately for Nick, things at home weren’t as great as his parents were constantly fighting. To drown out the fighting, Nick would either have 1v1 games with friends or he’ll be practicing on his own. It was his own little escape from reality. This would go on for a couple more years until his 14th birthday came around.

“I remember it being another night of fighting so I just did what I normally would do. That was until my father came outside with bags and told me to get in the car. That we were leaving to my grandparents house in Ontario. I followed him, and after a couple minutes of driving, he parked and told me what was happening. That was the day I learned that my father was gay.” ~Nickoli speaking about his experiences in a college interview.

Donovan and Celine would eventually divorce, with Don earning custody of his son (much to Nick’s relief) and they would soon find stability in Ontario. Donavan would eventually remarry to his lover, a parrot by the name of Julian Storn and the family would begin to heal. Nickoli would also be taking on his stepfather's last name as his own. Nick would be encouraged to continue playing sports, and so he did, becoming a storm on the court and earning many rewards by the time he graduated. The family would eventually move back to the United States as Donavan would get a coaching job at North Star University, which was located in Bismarck, North Dakota. The same school Nick got a modest scholarship offer from. Things were going to get interesting…

“I enjoyed my time in North Star, I really did. La’Tika and the others (minus a certain wolverine) helped me a whole lot with honing my skills on and off the court. My father was an amazing coach who didn't treat me any different from the rest. It was a team that I thrived on. Yeah, we had our ups and downs, but I was happy to be a part of the team. Ashamed that I didn't get to continue thriving there.” ~Nickoli speaking about his father’s early resignation and his transferring to another university.

In Nick's sophomore year, he would learn that his stepfather had been diagnosed with cancer. Donavan would immediately resign and he and Julian would move back to Ontario to be closer to family and begin their treatment options. Nick would transfer to the University of Eastern Ontario so he could continue with school and basketball while being close to his family. He was planning to not continue with basketball when Julian told him to not worry about him and to continue on with his dreams to make it to the pros. While in Eastern Ontario, the young gosshawk would continue to thrive, earning POTGs and even make it to the championships with Eastern Ontario losing to Thunder Bay by five points.

Unfortunately, Julian would lose his battle to cancer. Nickoli declares for the 2023 FBA Draft in honor of his late stepfather.
