Biography

Poppy comes from a long line of basketball coaches, from her grandmother that helped lead a high school team to a provincial championship to her mother that led [checking with what team I can put her on]. Where her family has had only mild success with their playing endeavors, Poppy strives to be a force on the court, though she certainly plans to coach once she retires from playing.

She's spent much of her formative basketball years building up the team on the University of Eastern Ontario. The team saw incremental success until their 2024 debut, where they became CFIS champions. This road was a rough one, as her team found themselves on the side of controversy vis-à-vis the riot at the conclusion of their game against Thunder Bay. Several players were suspended. This meant that Poppy and her teammates needed to rally for the remainder of the tournament.

The platypus, modest and kind by nature, found herself surprised when she was named not only to the All CFIS team but MVP for the series. She isn't one to cry, but this caused her to well up a little. From there, she felt confident in submitting herself for the draft, but not before representing her country at the 2024 Olympics.

Poppy looks to improve both her basketball and her professionalization skills. Her family tends to be boisterous and outgoing, where she finds herself reserved and attentive. She hopes to get closer to coaching and administrative staff to learn from them, as well as becoming more of a leader for whatever team might accept her into the FBA.
