Biography
The starting center on Jeff Random's college team back in 2009, Wheatie, as he is affectionately known, is a common country dog who enjoys fishing, hiking, lazy days outdoors, and hoops. Graduating this year with his degree in Agricultural Engineering, Doug is a dedicated collegiate scholar and is finally prepared to take that leap into the FBA Draft. A traditional pivot, Doug has a nice touch for a big man, and average rebounding and defensive skills. He doesn't win any individual awards for defense, but he's no weak link either. His game is based on excellent team play, and he passes quite well from the low post. He has some nice pivot moves, and will spin around you if you aren't paying attention. He doesn't mind back to the basket play, but likes to receive the ball facing the basket at about 15 feet and will pop that jumper if left open. You can count on him to hustle his butt off, and all 7'4" will dive to that floor faster than you can blink if it means a chance at a loose ball. He does a lot of intangible stuff well, like setting great picks, helping on defense (altering shots more than he blocks them) and getting tip ins. His teammates love playing with him, and he enjoys taking his team out to dinner once or twice a month to bond with teammates. A wonderful generous guy who has given lots of his time to various charitable organizations and an intellectual at heart who is well read in history and politics as well as agriculture, Doug is a very interesting, likeable furson off the court, and a dedicated, hard working one on the court who is dedicated to helping his team win. Fun Fact: His jump hook shot is very dependable and nearly impossible to block because it arcs so high before coming down. That's why it's called the "Golden Arch".
