Yves Carbonneau is an unusual player. He is slightly short for the forward position, yet he can play some quality minutes there. His main area of work is in the backcourt.
Yves is average at the point guard position; his main strength is in his shooting, so he played the 2 position a lot in university. His boxing out skills allow him to play a third position. The most thrilling moment in Carbonneau's university carrer came in his freshman year; he led L'Université Canadienne de la Faune de Montréal to a CFIS National title over Thunder Bay Predator College.
His weakness might be that he has reached his ceiling. Many scouts think that this is as good as Carbonneau is going to get. This doesn't bode well for him because he is average on passing and defense. If Yves is to be a pro, he may have to survive as a shooter.
Carbonneau, a handsome, black-haired fox, is a stout advocate for Québécois independence; he has the flag of Quebec, the Fleurdelisé, tattooed on his right bicep and a blue-outlined fleur-de-lis on his left bicep.
He signed as a walk-on free agent with the Winnipeg Voyageurs after the 2011 FBA Draft and had a solid rookie season. He signed a three-year deal to remain with the Voyageurs after the season and backed up guard sensation Zoie Wilds and veteran Bruce Bounder, and in 2015 signed another three-year extension to remain with the club.
