Biography
Early Life: Astrid was born February 7th 2001 to a family of farmers with deep roots. Both of the young sabre tooth's parents are descendants of norse vikings from long ago. Her grandmother ran the family's day-to-day lives, their devotion to the norse gods going along with them. Astrid lived a modest life. She wasn't rich, but she was happy. She was surrounded by family and had a lot of cousins to play with. She lived for her Norse heritage. Astrid was happy…. At least she thought she was happy. At age 12 her grandmother passed away. When she died something changed within her family that soon changed her life. Astrid's mother and father (her father was her grandmother's son) decided to cut off their roots. Saying that ""It's time to move on. The viking in us has died."" That piece of Astrid died when her parents said that sentence. Some agreed, some disagreed. And it began tearing her life apart.
Life on the farm became dull. Really dull. The only excitement she would get was from school where she would get into fights with other students, which was a problem because some students were prey animals and she would fight claws unsheathed. Her aggressive nature soon hit home as she clawed the side of the barn while her family members watched in horror. In an attempt to curb her aggression and to put her strength to good use, they signed Astrid up for basketball.
The change was drastic. Astrid stopped getting into fights and focused more on basketball. She used her skills on the court and it racked up wins for the team. For once the sabre tooth felt free. Free from her families' dull shadow. Right then and there Astrid knew that basketball was going to be a part of her. That also meant that she would have to seek glory outside of Norway…
Coming to America was difficult. Things were different. Really different. She felt severely out of place while attending North Star University. She was the only one like her out there. And being the only one of your species in a school didn't make you feel too good. That was until she met Jonas Beckett (Thylacine, SG). Astrid and Jonas got along pretty well, especially bonding over the fact that they both liked basketball. It was then she learned that Jonas played for the college team, the North Star Wanderers. When Astrid brought it up, Jonas immediately suggested that she should try out for the team. That year she did.
Joining the team should have been a dream come true for Astrid. However it wasn't as pleasant as it should have been. Many of her teammates didn't exactly like her… and a few of them even went to Coach Rufford (Bulldog) spewing out false claims of harassment. That was until La'Tika Bambrick (Sifaka Lemur, PF), the team's freshly appointed captain kept them at bay. If it wasn't for La'Tika, Astrid might have never joined the team. Now it was time to show them what she could do
Because of Astrid and her friends, the team makes a second FCAA appearance. Astrid, alongside fellow starters La'Tika Bambrick, Jonas Beckett, Mihkail Vahova (Lynx, PG), and Marshall Tarrega (Orca, C) became known as the North Star Five. These players became famous for bringing North Star University to the finals for the first time in 50 years. Astrid and her friends fought a long battle before losing to Claiborne University 77-97 in the Finals. Despite this loss, Astrid was still a beloved asset on the team, and many wondered what she was going to do afterwards…
Alongside her fellow starters, with the encouragement from teammates and classmates alike, Astrid decides to declare for the 2022 FBA Draft.
