The 2014 Defensive Player of the Year award is one of the Awards to be given out for the 2013-2014 season.

Eligibility

Eligibility for this award is dependent on the following:

  • Must have played at least 40 games during the 2013-2014 regular season.
  • Must have the sum of the end-of-season stat averages of blocks, steals, and rebounds be at least equal to 3.0.
  • Must not be a rookie.

The award should be given to the individual athlete who showed the strongest defensive performance in the league. The award should not be based on a team's record or standing, though it is likely that a DPotY candidate will have led his or her team through a strong season.
